emotional waves
emotional waves reflects on the lack of positive representations of post-romantic bonds in pop culture. The project revisits my relationship with my former partner, Avril Pellissier, five years after our breakup, using the kitsch aesthetics of pop music to stage the complexity of what remains after love. Structured as an album that reappropriates commercial photography and pop codes, the work explores a bond that is neither romantic nor platonic, shaped by friendship, chosen family, and alternative forms of attachment. Set in the arid yet fertile landscape of Lanzarote, the project oscillates between irony and sincerity, using performative photography to expose the fragility of romantic and commercial archetypes and to question how images and narratives shape our understanding of love.
